Believe and Achieve

Learning through Play

Outdoor Play

As well as fresh air and exercise, our children can discover and explore in our Outdoor Classrooms. We link their learning to the Early Learning Goals and National Curriculum and practise skills such as measuring, de-constructing, creating and working as a team.

Our children immerse themselves in their learning. They communicate their ideas effectively, build relationships, resilience and confidence, develop creativity and take risks.

We offer our children time outdoors every day, whatever the weather.

If any colleagues would like to visit our Outstanding school to see our Outdoor Classrooms please contact:

Mrs C Scott (Assistant Headteacher) at shvcscott@hvi.org.uk

Outdoor Adventure Club

In the summer term we will be running our popular outdoor adventure club again for our year 2 children. The children practise their problem solving skills and learn to work as a team. Check out some photos of the activities they do.

Some quotes from colleagues who have visited our setting:

"Love the hands on activities"

"Purposeful and organised high quality provision"

"I loved talking to Mrs Scott about the journey and looking at developments which are up and coming"

Indoor Play

At Hill View Infant Academy play is very important to us. It underpins learning and all aspects of our children’s development.

We promote play throughout our school from our youngest children in Nursery to our oldest in Year 2. Our children develop their imagination and engage and interact with the world around them.

We offer our children play opportunities through our use of Continuous Provision. These are areas in all classrooms where learning can take place through play. They include role play, creative and construction areas, small world, investigation areas and sand and water.

Hill View children play in order to develop an enquiring mind, to speak, read, write and count, to express their ideas and challenge themselves, to laugh and have fun.
